Moral Stories: The Peacock King
There once lived a peacock. He had white, green, and blue feathers. His name was Phoko-I. As he was special the birds made him their king. One day the lion cuckoo came to Phoko-I , taking out a note, and said: “the island of animals is making a descent on your island of birds, the lion king has sent me as a messenger to warn you”.
From the note he read, I am the lion. I have 20,000 ships, 300 army animals, 8000 chariots, 10,000 cannons, and 200,000 weapons. You surrender now or I will attack.
However, Phoko-I didn’t surrender, he accepted to participate in the war. Although he had very few army birds, very few flying chariots, 1000 cannons, and 2000 flying ships. Phoko-I was very courageous and moreover he had absolute support from his flock. He strategized, the birds had an advantage because they could do an aerial attack.
So in the war the birds fired their ostrich cannons and since the ostriches were flightless they did what they could to best; they stamped and the birds made loud noises which disturbed the focus of the animal army. The animals leapt into the sea. This is how the smart and courageous birds won the battle.
The remaining animals were taken as prisoners and made sick by brainfever birds and then drowned in the sea. After that, the animal island became a peaceful place under Phoko-I’s rule from the tyrant place it had been under the Lion’s rule.
Moral of the story: Never underestimate the weakest opponent
